Incident on the A6
After several hours of closure, the A6 highway in the Kaiserslautern district was reopened to traffic early this morning. The road had been completely closed due to a truck fire and a subsequent traffic accident.
Firefighters were alerted around 04:30 a.m. after a heavy goods vehicle caught fire for reasons still under investigation. Extinguishing the blaze caused substantial damage to the truck and the road surface.
At the same time, a rear‑end collision occurred between two passenger cars, likely triggered by sudden braking in the resulting traffic jam. Several occupants sustained minor injuries and received on‑site medical treatment.
The Kaiserslautern police have opened investigations into the cause of the fire and the circumstances of the crash. Witnesses are asked to come forward. The motorway is now fully passable again.
