Privacy Policy

We process personal data in accordance with the GDPR (EU 2016/679) and the Austrian Data Protection Act (DSG). This policy explains what data we collect and why.

Server log files

When you visit our site, the hosting provider automatically collects technical access data (IP address, date/time, requested URL, user agent) for the purpose of operating and securing the website. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Logs are deleted after a short retention period.

Contact form

If you contact us via the form, we process your name, email, subject and message to handle your request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). We also store the IP address and a reCAPTCHA score for spam protection. Data is deleted once the request is fully resolved and no retention obligations apply.

Google reCAPTCHA v3

To protect the contact form against automated abuse we use Google reCAPTCHA v3 (Google Ireland Ltd.). This transmits usage data (incl. IP address) to Google; data may be transferred to the USA under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework / standard contractual clauses. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. More: Google Privacy Policy.

Cookies / language preference

We set a functional cookie (vr_lang) to remember your language choice and a session cookie for form security (CSRF). These are technically necessary; no consent is required (§165 TKG 2021). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies without consent.

AI processing & third parties

Article content is generated with AI services (OpenRouter) and images with an AI image provider (Pixazo). These services process article source text only — never your personal data. Generated images are strictly symbolic (courthouse, gavel, scales of justice) and never depict real, identifiable people.

Data on persons named in articles

We do not publish identifying details of victims (full names, addresses, photographs). Suspects and defendants are named only where legally permissible and are always described using presumption-of-innocence language until a final conviction.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR). You may lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (dsb.gv.at).
