Rape Nation is an AI-assisted news outlet covering violent crime, sexual offenses and the justice system. Because of the sensitivity of this beat, we hold ourselves to documented editorial safeguards, not just AI transparency.

How articles are created

• We monitor reputable public RSS feeds of established news outlets' crime/justice desks.
• Each item is fully rewritten by a large language model into an original, neutral news article — in German and English. Source wording is never copied verbatim.
• Every article links to its originating source for verification.
• One illustrative image per article is generated by an AI image model. Images are strictly symbolic (courthouse, gavel, scales of justice, police tape, abstract silhouettes) — never photorealistic depictions of real people, victims or crime scenes.

Editorial principles (mandatory safeguards)

1. No demographic profiling. We never select, omit or prioritise a story based on a suspect's or perpetrator's ethnicity, nationality, religion or migration background. Selection is based solely on newsworthiness: severity, legal significance and public interest.
2. Presumption of innocence. Anyone not finally convicted is described as "mutmaßlich" / "alleged", "Verdächtiger" / "suspect", or "Angeklagter" / "defendant" — never as guilty before conviction.
3. Victim protection. We never publish victim-identifying details — no full names, addresses, or photographs of real victims. Victims are referred to by role, age range or initials only, following Pressekodex Ziffer 8 standards.
4. Restrained tone. No graphic or sensationalist descriptions of violence. Our tone aims for the factual restraint of established outlets such as tagesschau.de or derstandard.at, not tabloid style.
5. Symbolic imagery only. AI-generated images depict neutral judicial symbolism — never real people, never crime-scene reenactments, and never visual cues implying a suspect's ethnicity.
6. Victim support helpline. Every article footer carries a fixed (non-AI-generated) block with victim-support hotlines (e.g. Frauenhelpline 0800 222 555, Opfer-Notruf 0800 112 112, Hilfetelefon Sexuelle Gewalt 0800 22 55 530 for Austria/Germany).
7. Sourcing. Every article cites and links its source; content is always AI-rewritten, never copy-pasted.

Limitations

AI systems can make mistakes. Despite automated and editorial checks, inaccuracies may occur. If you spot an error — especially anything that could compromise a victim's identity or a suspect's presumption of innocence — please contact us immediately and we will correct it without delay.
