Farewell to international cricket
Heather Knight, captain of the England women’s cricket side, announced her retirement from international play following the recent Test at London’s historic Lord’s Cricket Ground. The match concluded with a decisive victory for India, which won by 270 runs.
In her final innings for England, Knight scored 13 runs. Despite the defeat, she expressed optimism about her future, noting that she looks forward to new professional and personal pursuits.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) praised Knight’s contributions to the sport and indicated that she will remain involved with the team in an advisory capacity. Knight had captained the side for more than a decade, playing a key role in its development.
Following the game, Knight gave a brief interview in which she thanked teammates, coaching staff and supporters. She described her time in international cricket as rewarding and said she now aims to focus on new goals.
