Gunther von Hagens Deceased
The physician and inventor of plastination, Gunther von Hagens, has died at the age of 81. His family confirmed the passing.
Von Hagens developed the plastination technique, in which bodily fluids are replaced by synthetic resins to preserve anatomical specimens permanently. This method allowed the human body to be displayed in detail while remaining accessible to a wide audience.
Through the "Body Worlds" exhibitions he brought plastination to the public. The shows presented real human bodies in various poses, generating worldwide interest as well as controversial debate.
