Firefighters Stop Field Fire Near Senior Housing in Stutensee
On the reported date, a field area of approximately five hectares caught fire in the municipality of Stutensee. The flames spread quickly and threatened a nearby assisted living residence for seniors.
The Stutensee fire department was immediately alerted and deployed several fire engines along with crews from neighboring units. Through targeted extinguishing efforts and the creation of firebreaks, the spread of the fire to the senior housing was prevented.
During the operation, almost 30 people were evacuated from the assisted living facility as a precaution. Most of them were residents and care staff, who were temporarily housed in a nearby community hall.
Emergency crews remained on site for several hours to monitor hot spots and minimize the risk of re‑ignition. Only after the fire was fully under control was the assisted living facility reopened.
Police have opened an investigation into the cause of the blaze. Preliminary assessments suggest an accidental fire, but all possible causes are being examined.
