An independent laboratory detected heavy metals as well as per‑ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in temporary tattoos intended for children. The analysis also uncovered prohibited chemicals and hormonally active plasticisers.
Responses from advocacy group and ministry
Greenpeace Germany urged tighter chemical regulations to better protect children from harmful substances. The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety said it will review the findings and consider any necessary follow‑up actions.
The ministry added that it will consult with relevant authorities to assess whether further steps are needed.
